Things to Do
We’d love for you to be able to make a fun and memorable weekend out of the celebration of our love, so we’re listing some recommended activities and sites based on our personal experiences and preferences that you can partake in and visit when you’re not with us!
Jefferson, GA
Prior to choosing Chapman Hill as the location to hold our day, we had never visited Jefferson, but it has and will continue to become a special place in our hearts. Downtown is very cute and quaint and includes Swirlee’s, the frozen yogurt and ice cream shoppe that we celebrated finding our dream venue at, and
Commerce, GA
Driving through Commerce many times on the way to the North Georgia mountains, we know that there is an abundance of chain restaurants, convenience stores, and gas stations along with a Tanger Outlets that can satisfy all of your spending desires.
Braselton, GA
For those of you who love wine and relaxation, Braselton may be the destination for you. Chateau Elan, winery and resort, offers many amenities such as an on-site resort and spa, scheduled tastings and tours, an in-house shop featuring local products, beautiful views, and a fine-dining restaurant. Brenna’s top suggestion includes enjoying the “Nancy” fingerprint collection and a fresh charcuterie board at their outdoor seating area. Just down the road, you can also find yourself browsing its large presence of excellent antique stores. Just try not to lost track of time because we need you at our celebration!
Athens, GA
Being the place that we met and in which we’ve spent most of our time together, Athens is one of our most favorite places to be. There are simply too many fun things to do and see to list them all, so we did our best to narrow down our best recommendations. Walking around downtown and around campus is always a great way to spend the day. Downtown, you can find Trappeze Pub for some amazing burgers and sandwiches and Creature Comforts Brewery for some crisp Tropicália. During your walk through campus, you have to make a pit stop in Five Points to find Marker 7 Coastal Grill in which you can enjoy fresh fish tacos and fruity drinks. While we frequent Bruster’s for our sweet needs, we also suggest Jeni’s Ice Cream in Five Points and cheesecake from Last Resort for more centrally located, convenient dessert options. Because of the away football game taking place on Saturday, Athens will have a great atmosphere to start off your November 8th!
Not technically located in Athens, but just south of in Watkinsville, Thomas Farm Preserve is a perfect spot for leisurely walks. We have enjoyed many sunsets here, and this is actually the place Grant proposed! Before you head back home on Sunday, we would love for you to visit Watkinsville First Baptist Church as many of our Sunday mornings have been spent here. Their services are at 8:30, 9:45, and 11:15 in the morning.
